The Build Haiti Foundation understands the challenges facing Haiti and follows a decentralization model whereby investment is made in improving the educational, economic and health care quality of village life. We bring people and organizations to the discussion table and stimulate positive exchange between parties. We work with grassroots organizations to identify projects of interest to the communities we serve.
We also build relationships with donors such as churches and philanthropic organizations to understand areas that they would like to address and align to their needs with those of the communities we serve. We work to build a self-sustaining economic development model to keep villagers from migrating to more congested areas like Port-au-Prince. With great accountability to our stakeholders, we execute projects in the following areas:

INSTITUTIONAL REINFORCEMENT & CAPACITY BUILDING
When working to support local institutions, it is important for Diaspora institutions to adopt policies that complement the development for the locality they are trying to help. To this end, BHF has met with local authorities to ensure they are not duplicating their effort. The community in Camp-Coq, a commune of Limbe, knows and trusts Build Haiti Foundation to do right by them because their plan is our plan.

EDUCATION
Through the generous and ongoing support of contributors, the Build Haiti Foundation has been able to help support four schools in Camp-Coq through different means including school supplies donations, music and sports programs. Some of these schools, often times, go a full year and not able to pay their teacher a salary. To the credit of these teachers, they keep showing up day after day to do their job. With limited resources, we do the best we can to support these schools. Your support can go a long way in helping us meet this challenge.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY & WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste management and the disposal of Styrofoam containers and plastic have been a major problem for local communities. These issues contribute greatly to Haiti’s healthcare challenges. The Build Haiti Foundation is working with the University Henri Christophe of Cap Haitien and Konbit Sante to help address these issues. To meet these challenges, BHF is also soliciting the help of US universities. Through a sustained effort, BHF continues to engage the local community through workshops and seminars to raise awareness and empower locals to address issues faced by their community.
